Our flagship branch is the 2,000 m² Harare Hardware situated at the corner of Fourth Street and Kenneth Kaunda Avenue in Harare. Enjoying abundant parking space this flagship brand retails general hardware, agricultural inputs, veterinary products and building material.

Our product lines

What started as a Farmers’ Co-operative in the then city of Salisbury on 21 March 1908 has become the biggest farming inputs and implements retailer in Zimbabwe measured by number of branches.

Essentially established for the benefit of the maize grower, the Farmer’s Co-op made trading practical and advanced finance when the maize was delivered, or provided credit to members when in need. The Farmers’ Co-op operated as a co-operative till 1919 and thereafter became a limited liability company.
The Farmers’ Co-op Limited Company was incorporated on 26 February 1919. The Maize Control Act of 1931 removed the marketing of maize from co-operatives and traders and placed it in the hands of a Maize Control Board. The Farmer’ Co-op ceased to be responsible for selling members’ maize both on the home and overseas market. What then seemed to be the way to go and revive the business was to reorganize the store into two departments, groceries and farm produce.

The buying department established in 1937 undertook the task of assisting farmers to deal with the problems of obtaining fertilizer, seeds, equipment and other necessary inputs. The company was later registered in 1953 and a re-organisation was carried out in October 1989 with the formation of Consolidated Farming Investments, which became the owner of most of the properties and investments previously owned by farmers’ Co-op.

In 1995, it was agreed that Consolidated Farming Investments would buy the farmers’ Co-op trading division which was to trade in future as the Farm and City Centre (FCC).
